Norwich Cathedral
History:
Founded in 1096, Norwich Cathedral features a superb combination of medieval art and Norman architecture that includes the second tallest spire in the country at 315 feet. There are 1066 carved and painted bosses in the nave roof depicting a wonderful cross section of medieval society. Also the burial place of Edith Cavell, executed for helping Allied soldiers escape from occupied Belgium during WWI.
Scope of Works:
The fourteen month project encompassed the complete replacement of the existing high-power cosuming lighting system with a new low-energy LED system, remote switching and scene setting. The effects are stunning with all English Heritage features illuminated beautifully. The whole team worked closely to agree & deliver a high level of design and engineering for all Heritage requirements. Rigorous health and safety planning ensured public, staff and engineer safety whilst keeping the Cathedral open to the public.
An amazing carbon reducing project to be involved with and we thank the Dean and Chapter, the Very Reverend Jane Hedges and Bruce Kirk of Light Perceptions for entrusting us to deliver.
