Winchester Cathedral
History
Fifteen centuries of English history lie behind this ancient house of prayer. Standing in the heart of Winchester, once the seat of Anglo- Saxon and Norman royal power, it is the burial place of King Alfred the Great, King Canute and English novelist, Jane Austen. In 1906, after centuries of subsidence, diver William Walker worked under water in total darkness for 6 years to underpin the cathedral’s foundations. The cathedral has 42 choristers who all attend local schools, singing once a week and for major concerts and services at Easter and Christmas.
Scope of Works
The project involved the installation of a new sustainable remote controlled LED lighting system enabling a reduction in cabling containment and access. All commissioning and programming for the project and future adjustment via remote keypad. An amazing project to be involved with and we thank the Dean and Chapter for entrusting us to deliver.
